Reading some of the reviews was very daunting. I was so predisposed when I went there. But, here is how it went for me:

They do ask you if you’d like to leave your valuables with them, kept in a small lockbox at the reception desk. I saw that as extra safety. Didn’t concern me one bit. Also, it is voluntary.

Although it is true that the lockers look like kennels, they’re sturdy so I felt safe leaving my belongings there.

At the bar you change the key of your locker for an electronic wristband that let’s you walk in downstairs where all the action happens. Kudos for that idea. It’s very practical to wear a band instead of carrying a key everywhere when you’re nude.

Now the interesting part: There were men from all over the world, with all type of bodies, all ages, skin colours, heights… I loved it. And there was a good confluence, despite it being a Thursday late afternoon.

The place is large and has quite the variety for you to enjoy your .. sessions, and it was very clean. Lastly, the staff were fine attitude wise.

I really appreciate that this venue is part of London’s LGBTQ+ community scene, but, there appear to be cameras in areas where guests would reasonably expect privacy (gym), but there is no visible notice explaining if or why recordings are made. It’s unclear how footage is stored, who can access it, or whether it is shared with third parties or authorities. These are important transparency issues the management should publicly address.Aside from that, the venue is an important part of the local scene — spacious, welcoming, and lively on weekends. I hope management takes steps to clarify their data‑protection and privacy policy so visitors can feel fully safe while enjoying the spac.

Came here a couple of times, last time this summer. The place is very big, with multiple floors and i have always found pretty hot guys in there. Cleaning should be improved but it’s not too bad. I think they should start giving customers flip flops along with the towels.

Some of the staff are nice others are OK but taking their job bit seriously like that blonde American one who works there, I hope he is getting paid £££’s for his job 😂😂 This is the most popular gay sauna in London would be nice for good customer service from everyone on all levels and maybe a bit of understanding for customers sometimes. The sauna itself is OK. Bit dirty in places needs a refurb. Clientele is alright. Left the sauna feeling like I had an OK time.

This is not my first time at Sweatbox, however the deteriorating standard of operations and hygiene make It impossible not to acknowledge… After you have made It past the sassy receptionist and been appointed your jail cell locker, you will enter the main reception where you will enter a war of checking out/checking in/box retrieving chaos that exists due to sweatbox’s unique system that doesn’t allow customers back to their locker. Annoying, but fine. Once you scan your bracelet and proceed through the silver turnstile you will descend into the grotesque pits of hell… maybe faster than anticipated if you are one of the lucky ones to slide down the lubricated stairs. By now, If you haven’t already inhaled the horrific smell, you will once entering the steam room maze which is however, architecturally one of the most redeeming parts of the place… Descending deeper into the cruising space is only for the brave and those who were smart enough to bring their own shoes. Many men here don’t know the meaning of NO and as a young guy on a Monday, I was followed, pulled, pushed and grabbed many times after saying no or simply removing a hand, maybe that is your thing? If you are lucky to find a match, you have the pleasure of discovering one of the strange sized, uncleaned cabins decorated with lube, used condoms and bodily fluids on both sides. If this isn’t already a turn off beware of breathing through the nose to avoid inhaling again the smell of piss, shit, death and decay.

I have been to saunas all around the world and none have left me feeling as disgusting as my last trip to Sweatbox.. The standard of this place is absolutely abysmal compared to every other gay sauna in Europe which is pretty embarrassing considering that this is LONDON?! Honestly I understand more the attitude of the workers, I too would be acting this way if I had to endure staying in this place for a whole shift.. I don’t plan on returning and would recommend doing the same. Unfortunately one star is the minimum.
