Business Types

  • Gay Bar

The name “Red Light” holds significance as it pays tribute to the LGBTQ+ history of the Kampus area. Once a thriving centre for the cotton industry, the canals and warehouses later transformed into a hidden red-light district after the decline of the businesses. Red Light embraces this history while creating a modern and inclusive space for everyone to enjoy. Founder Deana Ferguson envisions Red Light as an LGBTQ+ space that welcomes all individuals and offers an unforgettable experience.

Signature Cocktails with a Twist

At Red Light, the focus is on the art of mixology. Deana Ferguson, the mastermind behind the bar’s cocktail menu, has spent years perfecting her craft.

The signature cocktails at Red Light are a testament to her expertise and creativity. One must-try drink is the “Red Light Calling,” a modern twist on the classic London Calling cocktail. This unique concoction features homemade lychee soda and coconut fat-washed gin, providing a refreshing and innovative flavour profile. Another standout option is the “Artists Special #2,” which pays homage to Deana’s Belfast roots with a blend of Jameson’s whiskey and oloroso sherry.

The menu also features an extensive selection of martinis, ranging from the classic dry martini to inventive variations like the jalapeno and olive mashup dirty martini.

I am at a loss for words at how disrespected I was by the bar manager at this place. Wish I could give this place 0 stars.

Adding onto my review since there is no way to respond the establishment’s ridiculous response. My friend and I hung out at this place the previous evening for an hour. Had a great time and it hit off with the bartender and had great conversation. I closed and paid our final bill, which was $67.00. Prior to leaving around closing time with no one else there, my friend drank one of three shots that were sitting in front of us. She mistakenly thought the shots were for the bartender and us to take together since we were all joking and bantering. The bartender told us that they weren’t for us and they were testing and practicing making a new drink. My friend apologized. I apologized on behalf of my friend. I offered to pay for the shot that she drank and the bartender told me not to worry about it. I then even offered her some cash as a tip to make up for my friend’s honest mistake. At no point did anyone intentionally steal a drink, and my attempts to pay for it were turned down. When we left everyone was friendly and said goodbye and we thought we left on good terms. I have no problem with the bartender, she was very nice and friendly. Another woman was sitting two seats down from us and we had no idea who she was . . she is apparently the manager of some sort.

We returned the next evening since we had fun the night before, but we were stopped at the front door by the manager woman and told we were not welcome since we “stole” the night before. We were shocked and disrespected by what she told us. If she is going to react and treat happy repeat customers in that way, not sure how she actually deals with serious situations. Cool bar, but the manager seems to be inexperienced and doesn’t know how interact with customers.

A fantastic bar in a lovely location – particularly if the weather is good enough to sit outside.

I was there last night with a friend and the staff at Red Light (Jess and Sydney) were so friendly and engaging it was an absolute pleasure to be there.

They were also highly accommodating and they are a credit to this great bar.

Many thanks

Lovely small & inimate cocktail bar. Very friendly service from the moment we walked in. Delicious margheritas. I don’t normally like loud dj music in a bar, but somehow it was perfect here.
